  • THE SVFT LEADERSHIP (Rick, Pat, Ed, Greg, and Linda) WISH EACH OF YOU A RELAXING AND ENJOYABLE SUMMER.
  • SVFT OFFICE STAFF SUMMER SCHEDULE- Beginning on Monday, June 29, 2009 the office will be staffed on a part-time basis. Irene Sheades, the office secretary will be on vacation until August 17. Rick, Ed and Pat will alternate days to staff the office to ensure that phone messages are answered, e-mails are returned, bills are paid and preparations are made for a successful start of the new school year.
  • LEAVE CLEAR PHONE MESSAGES -When calling the union office this summer, you may or may not reach an officer, depending on the date and time of your call. Please leave a detailed message and slowly repeat your phone number so we can get back to you as quickly as possible. All three full-time officers will be checking phone and email messages frequently.
  • SVFT REPRESENTATIVES TO ATTEND AFT-QuEST –Rick Tanasi, SVFT President will be leading the group of members as they attend the AFT-QuEST Conference in Washington, D.C. this July 12-15. QuEST is a three-day event that offers workshops and conferences on trends and promising practices in education as well as union building and enhancing union work. Watch the September newsletter for a review of this activity.
  • TRAINING FOR VETERAN REPS-In an effort to establish effective communication and successful relationships with all of the new or transferred administrators, Executive Union Representative Ed Leavy has scheduled a series of training sessions for building reps in the affected schools. These training sessions (at least 3) began on June 10 and will continue into the early fall.
