What's Happening?

October 30, 2007

  • Wright Tech - Our efforts to keep Wright Tech open as a 9-12 grade comprehensive technical high school continue. This week Rick was in contact with the Stamford Mayor's office and has a scheduled meeting on October 30th and is waiting to hear back from the superintendent of schools and heads of Stamford Chamber of Commerce. Plans include contacting the mayor of Norwalk. The leadership will also be meeting with Commissioner McQuillan on October 31, 2007 to discuss Wright THS. Congratulations to Wright THS for making Safe Harbor on the 2007 CAPT! The mandates of the No Child Left Behind Law (NCLB) require that a plan to restructure Wright THS must be formulated this year. • Outreach - The SVFT has identified a need for our system to reach out to the people who are making labor decisions in Connecticut. SVFT President, Rick Tanasi and Vice President, Pat Keavney will begin this process by meeting with the Commissioner of Labor and CT AFL-CIO President, John Olson soon.
